Standings Predictor

What if ....
Weeks before the end of the competition, you sometimes test scenarios to see where your team will end up.
But that's not easy to do in your head. That's no longer necessary. The standings predictor does it all for you in seconds.

What if ....

As soon as the last fireworks have been shot off and the regret of all the oliebollen, Christmas wreaths, and stuffed turkeys gnaws at us, we prepare for the second half of the volleyball competition. For some, it no longer matters, but for many, the most exciting months are about to begin.

Some must fear relegation. Others are counting on a spot in the top five and maybe even ….
Whatever category you belong to, chances are you are closely monitoring the competition and opening an app every weekend to see if any results are known. And you might also be looking at the program to make predictions about results and the associated standings. The immediate surroundings sometimes don't understand at all why you are so busy with 'a simple game' and prefer to immerse themselves in a real-life soap opera. We, die-hard volleyball enthusiasts, look forward to an exciting end to the competition, but when the time comes, we prefer to be sure of retention or, of course, the title by March. However, that scenario is not reserved for many, and so in February/March, we are calculating and making what-if predictions. If A wins from B and C loses to D, then we must win at home from E and take at least one set from F away to …. Easy to oversee one match before the end, but too complex in February. And so I built a standings predictor in Excel.

What the Standings Predictor Does

Exactly what the name suggests: it predicts the standings. Or rather: it shows what the standings will be if the results you enter turn out to be correct.

You can fill in the standings predictor at any point in the competition. Just like in the standings published by the Nevobo, match points are awarded based on the result. And there is a worksheet where the standings are shown in the correct order. So the team with the most points is at the top.

By the way: the standings predictor assumes matches of 4 or 5 sets. It is conceivable to build a version for competitions where the match ends at 3-0.
